Billboard Installation: A Safety Checklist

Billboard installation combines three risks at once: height, wind, and an uneven load. This checklist gets your site ready before the lorry arrives.
Before installation day
Confirm local authority permits and building owner approval. Confirm too that the existing structure can carry the new board's load.
Check the wind forecast. Working at height with a large surface like a billboard becomes dangerous far earlier than people expect.

Site preparation on the day
Clear space for the lorry and its outriggers. The surface must be level and firm enough to carry the outrigger load.
Close off the area beneath the work zone. Falling objects are the most common cause of incidents on signage jobs.
While the work is underway
Anyone in the basket must wear a harness clipped to the designated anchor point, never to the basket rail.
Stop work if the wind picks up. An experienced operator will make that call without being asked.
