Most skylift rental problems can be avoided with a few questions before confirming. This is the list worth working through.
Questions about the unit and its certification
Ask whether the unit's DOSH certificate is still valid and request a copy. An organised supplier sends it without hesitating.
Ask about the unit's age and last service too, particularly for longer jobs.
- Is the DOSH certificate still valid?
- Can I have a copy of it?
- When was it last serviced?
- Is a certified operator included?
Questions about cost
Confirm what the rate includes and what is billed separately. Overtime, distance and waiting time are the usual three.
Ask for the pro-rata overtime rate before the work day, not after it.
Questions about insurance and responsibility
Confirm insurance cover for both the unit and the operator. It protects both sides if something happens.
Clarify who is responsible for traffic control and site permits.
